External Medicine Podcast Interview
An interview covering a wide array of topics near and dear to me over the course of my career
I haven’t posted on here in a quite a while. Writing manuscripts pertaining to my own research on multimorbidity and treatment effect heterogeneity, completing peer reviews (on time), working on my golf swing and getting the house ready for our new arrival in early March has occupied the majority of my time outside of direct patient care. Despite this, I’ve noticed a steady drip of new subscribers thanks to recommendations from friends and peers.
To provide some content, I thought I’d post a link to an interview earlier in the year done by the Belkin brothers who host The External Medicine Podcast.

I’ve done a few of these over my career and this one was hands down the best. These fellas really did their homework. They also brought a level of sophistication to the interview that I was not expecting. They did a fantastic job covering a wide array of content that reflects my own ADHD. I’ve jumped all over the place in my career but one thing that ties it all together is an interest in answering questions either directly related to caring for my patients or to understanding larger phenomena that motivates medical decision making on the part of patients and doctors.
I will apologize in advance. I’m not as articulate as I’d like to be. I even cringe listening to myself speak. Growing up, my grandfather would correct me incessantly for saying “umm” and “you know”. He encouraged me to take public speaking courses. The one I took in high school was unfortunately not enough. For my final project, I delivered the case for why Arturo Gatti vs Ivan Robinson should win an ESPY award for sporting event of the year. If you think this post is crap, at least watch the highlights of fight.
Thanks everyone for subscribing and have a happy holiday season.
